Plans and situation of our house and land.

After waiting almost 3 years - mostly for the forestry department to agree that our clear fields weren't forest - we finally got our building permit. And began to build almost straight away.

Next the foundation ditch has to be dug.

First the base cement goes down and they draw the outline of the house on it. Our engineer Dimitri send us all these pictures. He wanted to reassure us that he was on site so he included his face in some of the pictures.

Now it's time for the foundation forms to be laid. As for the rebar, it looks like the engineer studied a book about the reinforcement used on Hitler's Bunker. It's a wonder our mountain didn't collapse under the weight of all the steel.

The walls start to go up.

Getting up to the window sill level. There another rebar "earthquake belt" is laid around the building.
